Professor Sharon Green is Director of Apprenticeships and Skills at the University of Lincoln She was awarded a Principal Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy in 2019 and a National Teaching fellowship in 2023. Prior to joining Lincoln, Sharon held senior technical roles within the food industry, and led the development of systems and processes as quality control cultures shifted to a quality assurance model.
Sharon is responsible for the strategic development, operational oversight, and delivery of the University’s apprenticeship and skills portfolio. This includes all aspects of the apprenticeship journey, from securing strategic business opportunities, to safeguarding the University’s reputation and external profile, through the management, oversight and operation of internal quality processes and external reviews (ESFA, Ofsted, QAA), and stakeholder management.
Sharon is passionate about vocational student engagement and the student experience and has led multiple projects focussing on the development of vocational education and skills within the food and drink sector. She has presented extensively on vocational teaching and learning topics, with a focus on professional skills and workforce development. She directs strategic employer partnerships to meet the needs of the food and drink manufacturing sector through further and higher educational programmes, short courses, and virtual learning platforms. Sharon also has expertise and experience in curriculum development and management, assessment of students and development of teaching skills. She has undertaken a variety of Chief Moderator and External Verifier roles across a range of Awarding Organisations to support the development of qualifications for the sector.
